The bookcloth used here is from an upcycled 100% cotton shirt found in a thrift store. It’s backed with mulberry paper, and even the shirt pocket is

Mohawk Superfine is a 25% cotton paper, acid free, certified elemental chlorine free, and FSC Certified Preferred by Nature. It’s lush tactility, and eggshell finish, paired with a hefty 118gsm weight make it a versatile and beautiful notebook paper that can handle multiple mediums to support your artistic freedom, including:

Charcoal
Color pencil
Ink
Marker
Pastel
Pen

Kat has even used watercolor on it with minimal buckling. This paper can handle anything you want to throw at it, but if you’d like a thick paper designed for acrylic, gouache, or watercolor, please see the listings titled “Mixed Media” or “Sketchbook.”

The text blocks are sewn with French Linen on Linen tapes, rounded and backed, then reinforced with tarlatan and Japanese Mulberry Paper. Every journal is acid-free, archival, and built to last a lifetime, though if it ever needs a repair, is fully repairable.

Oxide Press and Bindery is owner-operated by master bookbinder, teacher, and environmental activist, Kat Mergens. Every book is hand-crafted start to finish using traditional bookbinding methods, and archival, luxury paper and bookcloth to support unlimited creative expression. 10% of profits are donated to the National Forest Foundation.
